Film Incentive Brings Another Blockbuster to Australia

Another blockbuster movie will be produced in the State of Victoria.

The film, “The Killer Elite”, was brought to Victoria by the Victorian Government’s screen agency Film Victoria and will film in metropolitan and regional Victoria.

Sandra Sdraulig, CEO of Film Victoria, said that Victoria’s continued success in attracting major films to the state is the result of more than just it’s beautiful locations.

“Our strengths includes world-class crew and facilities, financial incentives, fantastic support services, film-friendly councils and of course, our relaxed lifestyle”.

Topliners Robert De Niro, Jason Statham and Clive Owen will star in the new international action thriller “The Killer Elite”. The announcement was made by Chritopher Mapp, managing director of Omnilab Media, who is financing the $66m Australian production to be directed by Irishman Gary McKendry.

Production will commence in Melbourne and the makers of The Killer Elite expect to spend at least $32 million and create approximately 250 jobs during the life of the project.

The film follows the activities of two secret organizations; The Clinic, consisting of three contract killers, and The Feather Men, an underground group of vigilante killers who protect former and present members of the Special Air Service (SAS) and their families.

Victorian Innovation Minister Gavin Jennings said that the Victorian Government had identified the screen industry as a major economic driver to the state through its new strategy, “Our Vision on  Screen”.

“The strategy outlines initiatives worth $178 million over five years to provide the industry’s growth, including production attraction programs to secure high-caliber international and local films, such as “The Killer Elite”, Mr. Jennings said.

The Killer Elite joins Where the Wild Things Are, Don’t be Afraid of The Dark and Knowing, to name just a few, of the major blockbusters to be filmed in Victoria.
