GSM Visa Processing times for DIAC (particularly subclass 475)

Recently I have been getting lots of posts from people wanting me to tell them how long going it’s going to take DIAC to process their GSM visa applciation, partulcarly the sub class 475.  Unfortunately I don’t have a crystal ball that I can look into and predict how current DIAC current policies (given current economic climate & political stance on immigration) or DIAC’s internal structure policy is going to influence processing times).  I wish I could!  Iwould be a very popular migration agent indeed.  Anyway, I think only time will tell how long it is going to take, cliched but true.  For most of the people who have recently applied, if you consider an approximate processing time of say 9-12 months, there is no need to hit the panic button until you come to the latter stages of this timeline.  If you lodged an application in February this year don’t start pestering your agent for a hit prediction as to when you will have a visa.  I think it’s unfair on yourself and unfair on your poor agent.

I would like to invite any one out there who is waiting on a visa approval to post a comment when you do get your visa approval advising your visa sub class applied for, your date of lodgement, date you did your medicals and the date your visa was granted. I would invite anyothers awaiting a visa approval to do the same so that others in a similar situation may be able to get an idea of timing.

All the best,

Mege Dalton

PS  We are living in interesting times.

Hi Aussie_Fan, Sam, rufn & all friends

I also have applied application to migrate Australia; nowadays we are passing through horrible situation we will have to face it. Did you all know about my progress? You all friends might feel lucky by reading my case.

I had applied on 11,February 2008 for subclass 175, CO allotted in end of February 2009 and asked for PCC provided it in middle of may 2009. Then CO withdrawn by suggesting me to get State sponsorship for priority process. because DIAC has introduced first priority processing list viz. 1st State sponsored applications, 2nd CSL & 3rd was the MODL. That was the final stage of my application, . Then I applied for SSV to get first priority I got the State Sponsorship from Victoria as on 3rd September 2009 and form 1100 was been sent on 7th September. This time also I was on final stage. Now introduced another priority processing list. This is second time I fall from top to lower priority. My application has already passed almost 20 months and still I am waiting and waiting. I am too depended on this project, I am to take lots of decision after it but as I am trying to get it quickest it’s going far and far.

My wit went to graze grass when I got the idea to migrate in Australia. That time, I also was eligible to get PR from Canada, when I applied application at DIAC, but I turned toward the Australia because better processing time then Canada. Now I am filling it would have battered if I had applied for Canada. I scarified a lot viz. time, money and carrier; also lose too many opportunities by dreaming to move Australia.

Mege Dalton has done great work by introducing this site and got us together to share our thoughts. Let her to do her own work we not intended to disturb her. Always her all advises very precious for us and we need it too.

Is there any chances to get priority after falling two time from final stage? Well come all the reply and advise regarding my case.

    Too depressed,
    Nightmare

    Hi nightmare,

May be it’s not really a nightmare afterall. Just to share what i found from GettingDownUnder forum, some people convert 175 to 176. If you have a nominated skill that the particular state is able to sponsor you, may be you can try this way. No matter what, just keep trying till you get it. Sometimes, the more difficult that we get it, the more we will treasure it.

    All the best.

    violet.

    Hi Violet,

Thank you for your valuable suggestion, but i have already State Sponsorship and already changed my file from 175 to 176. Despite, as per new priority list I am not getting priority. Read the Q.17 of priority list.

Q17 I already have a State and Territory nomination, how am I affected?
All GSM applications, other than a Subclass 476, 883 and 887 are subject to the priority processing arrangements under the Minister’s Direction. Applicants who are nominated by a State or Territory and have nominated an occupation on the CSL receive the second highest priority. Applicants who are nominated by a State/Territory and have not nominated an occupation on the CSL will receive lower priority.

    Thanking You,
    Nightmare

yeah, I get what u mean here.

176 also hv to be in the CSL. I was reading the gettingdownunder forum, some ppl just got theie 176 approval, fall under csl. that’s mean diac is trying to get rid of csl list as fast as possible. hopefully, by then, they will look into us…

requirements and be sponsored by an employer or have a nominated occupation listed on the CSL.”

Friends, this programme year will end in june 2010…so we (who r not in csl)can hope to get any news from diac in July2010

    Dear all

The processing time for 475 (offshore) has not been given in this page.

    http://www.immi.gov.au/about/charters/client-services-charter/visas/8.0.htm

Does this mean 475 Offshore will take infinite time.

    Do you have any idea?

    Worried Aussie_Fan

  • Sam

    Hi Aussie_fan,
I think there is no onshore visa 475.
Probably, it is written in a wrong way.

    BR,
    Sam

  • anh duc

i applied for 475 visa, SA sponsor and my skill is on CSL. I had CO on August, send health result in Sep. But now still waiting. So I want to ask how long will it nomally take to grant visa after sending health result ?

  • jack6 star

    dear all,
It would have been ok if the rule would be imposed after 23rd Sept 2009 applicants, but this rule affecting those applying before 23rd and in the final point of processing,,,is non resprcting the human feelings and sentiments,,,hope the rule will again change……bounce back…otherwise it is really a grand torture….
2012 AD is very far away…..

  • johnd

Dear everyone, for some information please refer to embraceaustralia I hope it will hepl clarify doubts to some extent.

    Hello nightmare,,,
in my case its been two years waiting to make my wife pregnant after reaching to Australia. My wife has started telling me that its all disturbed, forget about land and car being sold,,,forgat about everyone asking us about our flying towards the land of real Kangaroos.
    thats it!!!!

  • Nightmare

    I found very little hope,
They are not strictly adhere with new rules, someone got the visa whose occupation wasn’t on CSL and wasn’t nominated by any employer that was General Electrician found on beupdate.

That means there is a chance to get visa to very those people who was on final stage. Dear all please reply your thoughts on it.

    Nightmare

  • Sam

    Hi Nightmare,
There is nothing written in the comments of John about CSL.
Please try to copy and paste what you want to clarify to us.

    thanks alot,
    Sam

  • KSA

    Hi All

Greettins to all, this is very much clear that GENERAL ELECTRICIAN is not in the CSL list,So it would not be in priority. So NIGHTMARE is correct.

    Please see CSL list.

  • Nightmare

    Hi KSA,

Yes KSA exactly you got what I was going to explain

I think sam got his answer.

  • rufn

Dear all- it should be like the decision would have been made already and should have been waiting for the spouse’s documents verification and once when they are clarified his viza should have been finalsied… even I know a non-csl case of such whose pre-grant was given before the intro of new priority processing on 23rd sep,.. grant was kept in pending for further information on “leaving to off shore” for they were on – shore ( in australia)

however, let us hope for good to happen soon…

  • johnd

yea Nightmare,u are absolutely right, general electrician is not in the CSL, so some rays of hope.since John got visa on 9.10.09,hungarian.

  • KSA

    Hi All,

All solicitor on behalf of their cliants to raise the questions about injustice by this law.Any where ,specialy in case of DIAC we saw before justification to implementing any new regulations.
Any new law would be implemented from the day of date what they mentioned. It was never implemented to whome those who lodged their applications prior to that mentioned date.Possibly this is for the first time in DIAC new law imposed from the retrospective lodgement application date.Due to this many applicants are deprived those who waiting for final stage of their visa grant. They applied with the directive of DIAC,delay is from their site, but whats wrong with the applicant & what is their falt ?Who will compansate for lost time due to the delay processing of DIAC ?

    Realy its not fare.Its disappointing.

We hope, democrating Government would like to review this right.Solicitors to rase this question too.

Dear All Please write your comments.

  • Sam

    Hi Nightmare, Hi KSA,
Thanks alot I got the answer.
    Hi All,
Does anyone of you know any info that some solicitors in Australia have raised an objection on courts against DIAC regarding this new migration law not to be applied for those who applied before 23rd Sep?

I have not heard about this but I feel that there are some of them should have done this.

    BR,
    Sam

  • Nightmare

    Hi Sam / KSA,

I have heard but not from reliable source.

Some one told me he have heard from offshore agent.

we can count it as ray of hope.

  • johnd

    hi all,
what ever KSA has written is true,,The 23rd Sept Law should be implemented after 23rd Sept only,,which means where is human right gone?People had applied according to what the law said and finally the same law disqualifies! whats this? R we cheated or is it the way it should work? I may be wrong,,somebody, please express what u guys feel….Should we all appeal ,,Is there some place in the world who can hear this? I am slowly catching heart disease and brain disease? Please sooth me with nice reply.Well, are my dreams shattered or is there still some hope? Who is responsible for all the hard earned expenses…?
    Please reply.

I have filed my GSM visa 475 on 17th July 2009. My TRN no is:EGNT2HVKIE.
All the formalities including medical and penal clearance is done. I have got a job offer in SA but without sponsorship.Infact two members from Embassy have come to meet me on my work place in November2009; still I haven’t got my visa.
On line enquiry status remains same showing “Requested” status for penal clearance certificate. When can I expect my Visa?
