GSM Visa Processing times for DIAC (particularly subclass 475)

Recently I have been getting lots of posts from people wanting me to tell them how long going it’s going to take DIAC to process their GSM visa applciation, partulcarly the sub class 475.  Unfortunately I don’t have a crystal ball that I can look into and predict how current DIAC current policies (given current economic climate & political stance on immigration) or DIAC’s internal structure policy is going to influence processing times).  I wish I could!  Iwould be a very popular migration agent indeed.  Anyway, I think only time will tell how long it is going to take, cliched but true.  For most of the people who have recently applied, if you consider an approximate processing time of say 9-12 months, there is no need to hit the panic button until you come to the latter stages of this timeline.  If you lodged an application in February this year don’t start pestering your agent for a hit prediction as to when you will have a visa.  I think it’s unfair on yourself and unfair on your poor agent.

I would like to invite any one out there who is waiting on a visa approval to post a comment when you do get your visa approval advising your visa sub class applied for, your date of lodgement, date you did your medicals and the date your visa was granted. I would invite anyothers awaiting a visa approval to do the same so that others in a similar situation may be able to get an idea of timing.

All the best,

Mege Dalton

PS  We are living in interesting times.

    Hi Mege
Thanks for your help through out the years. I got CO for my 885(online file, he requested medical and PCC and I provided them in week time. But didn’t hear anything after, so I called to check the status and they said they cant find my Medical online. I checked with Medibank and in their records everything is fine. What should I do? As Medibank said they cant send any copy of medical again. I do not know where the hell my medical report is.
DO I send the hard copy of my Medical by post to Brisbane processing centre referring my Case Officer? Please tell me what to do I am stuffed. Thanks in Advance.

  • Hi manish,,, have u got ur pr? Or still waiting for ?

I applied for a subclass 475 visa in April 2010 and still have no case officer. Upon applying I was advised processing times were ‘up to’ 9 months, once the application was in I was advised at least 18 months! Is anyone else experiencing such long waiting times? I would really appreciate any feedback.

    Thank you so much.

It took whole 2 years for me to be granted my state sponsored 475 visa (Granted Apr 2011). DIAC’s processing time keeps changing. Please refer to
    http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/estimated-allocation-times.htm
If you are state sponsored, it depends on your nominated occupation and I guess yours is in the priority group 5.

I lodged October 20, 2008 for subclass 475 & i know we’re on priority group 5 but up to now we’re still waiting for 3 years & 5 months now. I don’t know if we’ll be ever be granted a visa. It’s such a long wait! So frustrating!

  • Heya i’m for the primary time here. I found this board and I to find It truly useful & it helped me out a lot. I hope to present one thing back and help others like you helped me.

Hi, I have applied for 475 Regional Sponsored Visa on 23rd of December 2011. I belong to priority group 4. I have asked a lot of people on approximate time for allocation of a case officer since there have been high volumes of files submitted. Everyone is giving me a different answer. My problem is i left Australia before changing my bridging visa A to Visa B. It is getting very frustrating to wait. Can anyone tell me if i should apply a visitor visa and get Visa A if it is approved? Thank you.

I logged my application for subclass 475 in Aug 2008 nothing is done so far its really unfair that after charging huge amount of fees they are not responding properly their policy is just shit even making complaints to immigration minister havent got any reply. GFU global feedback unit is also not responding properly. So much frustrated as cant take any decision about my career. wasted my time money just give a shit to new priority processing policy. They are just cheating with old clients by neither giving visa nor returning money.

Further to my last post (January 5 2012), having submitted a Subclass 475 application on April 1, 2010, on April 20, 2012 I was advised that no CO had been assigned and the application was ‘processing’. At this time my Immigration lawyer advised that I was a priority 5 application and it could realistically take up to 5 years from submission (having initially been told 9 months). So, on May 10th I was contacted as my CO had requested police reports and medicals (typically I am unable to provide as I live on an island in the Caribbean and have had to send my passport off for renewal, everything requires the physical passport and not a copy! so have had to request more time). I have looked everywhere but can not seem to get a definitive answer…..can anyone tell me how long I have to validate the visa from the date of approval?? Any timeline information from approval (assuming they want me!) will be much appreciated and shared. Thanks!
