A new type of business visa is being called for by business leaders in South Australia to help entrepreneurs migrate to the region and bring new investment.
They want entrepreneurs to be assessed on practical experience gained in their business area.
The Member for the Port Lincoln-based seat of Flinders, Liz Penfold, says more needs to be done to remove barriers preventing suitable business migrants from moving to the state.
“That way we might be able to bring some of these people in and they could fill some of the positions particularly in the country where people can’t sell their businesses but wouldn’t mind leasing them with an option to buy because these people are coming out with nothing. Some of these people would have experience that could be used in an area like ours that we’re missing out on just because they haven’t got a particular qualification. Now, they could come over and manage our farms and take over from people who don’t have anyone, don’t have sons that want to come back on the farm, or don’t have family and would like to keep their farm or hand in and just can’t find anyone to take it on.”
A new visa class will help to attract entrepreneurs to move to South Australia and help bring fresh investment and breathe some life into economy.
I will keep you posted as this proposal develops.
